The Future of UTRGV Basketball is Looking Bright
As the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s basketball team gears up for the 2024-25 season, fans have plenty of reasons to be excited. The latest addition to the team, forward Kwo Agwa, is set to bring a new level of talent and athleticism to the court.
Kwo Agwa is ready to make his mark on the UTRGV basketball program.
Agwa, who spent his junior season at Texas A&M-Commerce, is no stranger to success on the court. In his previous season, he averaged 8.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while shooting an impressive 53.7% from the floor and 40.7% from three-point range. His impressive stats are only matched by his impressive work ethic, which has earned him a reputation as a player who is always hungry to win.
“Kwo is going to do a fantastic job for us,” said Coach Kahil Fennell. “He is a huge addition to this program, not just because he provides some front court size, but he is another guy that is on this roster that has performed at a high-level in this conference before.”
Agwa’s journey to UTRGV is an inspiring one. Prior to joining Texas A&M-Commerce, he spent the 2022-23 season at Howard College, where he averaged 12.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He started his collegiate career at State College of Florida, where he played in a combined 35 games while averaging 10.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
The UTRGV Vaqueros are gearing up for a big season.
With Agwa on board, the Vaqueros are looking stronger than ever. Coach Fennell’s first signing class is shaping up to be one of the most talented and dynamic in recent memory, with Agwa joining forward Marshal Destremau and guards Trey Miller, DK Thorn, K.T. Raimey, and Cliff Davis.
As the season approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to see Agwa and the rest of the Vaqueros in action. With their impressive skills and dedication to the game, this team is poised to make a serious impact on the basketball world.
