The Wait is Over: IU Basketball is Back in Session
As the summer sun beats down on Bloomington, a sense of excitement is palpable in the air. The wait is finally over, and IU basketball is back in session. The team has returned to campus, and summer workouts have commenced. It’s a new season, full of promise and possibility.
Summer vibes
The program released a series of photos on social media, giving fans a glimpse into the team’s summer workouts. Eleven of the 12 scholarship players are participating, with Trey Galloway still rehabbing from offseason knee surgery. The photos also gave us our first look at Arizona transfer center Oumar Ballo and Illinois transfer wing Luke Goode in official Indiana team apparel.
New faces in town
One of the most heartwarming moments from the photos was seeing redshirt freshman guard Jakai Newton, who has battled back from a knee injury suffered in May 2022, fully cleared for all activities. It’s a testament to his hard work and dedication.
The comeback kid
The tradition continues, with the team rubbing the head of Coach Mike Woodson, now in his fourth year at the helm. Washington State transfer guard Myles Rice can be seen hugging Woodson in the photo, a sign of the camaraderie and chemistry building within the team.
Team bonding
As we look ahead to the 2024-25 season, the newly constructed IU roster is widely viewed as a top-25 team. The excitement is palpable, and fans can’t wait to see what this season has in store.
The future is bright
With the team back on campus, the countdown to the new season has officially begun. It’s time to get ready, Hoosier Nation!
