The Rise of 3x3 Basketball in Germany
As a basketball enthusiast, I was thrilled to hear about the recent premiere of the WVV Jugend-Streetball-Turnier, a new 3x3 basketball tournament in Würzburg, Germany. The tournament, which was recognized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), brought together 32 youth teams from the region to compete in a fun and exciting event.

The tournament was a huge success, with teams competing in three age groups: U14, U16, and U18. The event also featured a dunk contest and a 3-point challenge, which added to the excitement and entertainment value of the tournament.
One of the highlights of the tournament was the participation of the Gerbrunn Grizzlies, a local basketball team that hosted the event. The team’s enthusiasm and energy were contagious, and they did an excellent job of organizing the tournament and making sure everything ran smoothly.

The tournament also featured a special guest appearance by the Rollstuhlfahrer und seiner Freunde e.V., a local organization that promotes wheelchair basketball. The organization set up a special course where participants could try out wheelchair basketball, which was a great way to promote inclusion and accessibility in sports.

Unfortunately, the tournament was cut short due to bad weather, but the organizers did an excellent job of adapting to the situation and making sure that everyone had a great time despite the circumstances.
Overall, the WVV Jugend-Streetball-Turnier was a huge success, and I’m excited to see more 3x3 basketball tournaments like this in the future. It’s a great way to promote basketball and get more people involved in the sport, especially at the youth level.
