The Unlikely Weakness of Steph Curry: Spinning a Basketball on His Finger
When it comes to ball handling in the NBA, a few names come to mind: Isiah Thomas, Allen Iverson, Pistol Pete, Jason Williams, Jamal Crawford, and Kyrie Irving. But one name that might not immediately spring to mind is Steph Curry. And yet, Curry is undoubtedly one of the greatest ball handlers in NBA history.
But what if I told you that there’s something in the basketball world that even Steph Curry can’t do? Something that requires hand-eye coordination and a basketball? I’m talking, of course, about spinning a basketball on his finger.
I know, I was shocked too. I mean, who wouldn’t be? It’s Steph Curry, the man who has made a career out of defying expectations and pushing the limits of what’s possible on a basketball court. And yet, here he is, unable to spin a ball on his finger.
I had to see it to believe it. So, I went digging for evidence and found a clip from 7 years ago where Curry tried to learn how to spin a ball on his finger with the help of the Harlem Globetrotters. It’s a classic move, one that many of us have tried (and failed) at summer basketball camp. But even with the help of the Globetrotters, Curry just couldn’t get it to work.

It’s a humbling reminder that even the greatest of all time (GOATs) aren’t perfect. Everyone has something they can’t do, and for Curry, that something is spinning a basketball on his finger.

It’s not about being perfect, though. It’s about being willing to learn and improve, even when it’s hard. And who knows, maybe one day Curry will master the art of spinning a ball on his finger. Until then, we can all take comfort in the fact that even the best of the best have something to work on.
