The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is one step closer to landing a top dual-sport recruit in Kendre Harrison. The Reidsville, North Carolina native is a highly sought-after prospect, ranking as a top 10 football recruit and top 30 basketball recruit in the 2026 class.

On Monday, Harrison announced that he would be focusing on a final six colleges, including UNC, Tennessee, Penn State, Oregon, Florida State, and Miami. This is a huge development for the Tar Heels, as they have offered him scholarships in both football and basketball.

During a recent visit to UNC, Harrison met with Tar Heels basketball head coach Hubert Davis, who extended a basketball scholarship to the prized recruit. “Just having the opportunity to play basketball and football at an amazing program, doing that in my home state, down the road from Reidsville is a blessing,” Harrison said. “The way they got me the basketball… Coach Hubert Davis and Coach Mack Brown offering me in basketball is definitely an amazing opportunity. It’s an amazing time in my life and it’s something I’ll never forget — how they did it and that they showed a lot of love. The main thing that I had a smile on my face.”

A Basketball Offer that Changed Everything

Harrison’s visit to UNC last month marked a turning point in his recruitment. The offer from the basketball program may have tipped the scales in favor of the Tar Heels. As Rivals reporter Sam Spiegelman pointed out, UNC’s efforts to land Harrison have been relentless, and the basketball offer could be the difference maker in this recruitment.

Harrison is set to visit Oregon at the end of July, with more visits likely to follow this fall. Having already been on UNC’s campus multiple times, he is expected to return in the coming months.
