Syracuse Basketball’s Golden Opportunity
As I sat courtside watching Syracuse men’s basketball head coach Adrian Autry call out a play to the court, I couldn’t help but think about the exciting times ahead for the Orange. With the recent announcement that the team will participate in a Multi-Team Event (MTE) in Las Vegas in 2025, the future is looking bright.
Vegas, baby!
This MTE is more than just a tournament - it’s a chance for the Orange to rake in some serious cash. Each participating program will receive a whopping $1 million to fund their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives. That’s right, folks, $1 million! According to Jason Belzer, founder of Student Athlete NIL, this money will be deposited into Orange United, SU’s preferred NIL collective. And then, it will be distributed to SU men’s basketball players.
Cha-ching!
As a die-hard Orange fan, I’m thrilled to see the program taking steps to stay competitive in the ever-changing landscape of college athletics. This influx of cash will undoubtedly give our players the resources they need to succeed on and off the court.
The Orange are on the rise!
Of course, this news also raises questions about the future of college athletics. As NIL initiatives continue to shape the sport, it’s clear that the landscape is changing rapidly. But one thing is certain - Syracuse basketball is poised to thrive in this new era.
Coach Autry is building something special.
So, Orange Nation, let’s get ready to rumble! With this MTE on the horizon, the future is looking bright for our beloved Orange. It’s time to strap in and enjoy the ride.
Go Orange!
