Syracuse Basketball Lands a Big Catch: Lucas Taylor Joins the Orange
As the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball program continues to build its roster for the upcoming season, they’ve landed a significant catch in Georgia State transfer Lucas Taylor. The 6-foot-5 guard, who averaged 14.5 points per game while shooting 34.5% from beyond the arc last season, is expected to bring some much-needed firepower to the Orange’s backcourt.

Taylor, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, began his college career at Wake Forest before transferring to Georgia State for the 2023-24 season. His decision to join the Orange comes after a visit to Syracuse earlier this week, and he’ll have one season of eligibility remaining.
“I’m thrilled to join the Syracuse family,” Taylor said in a statement. “I’m excited to contribute to the team’s success and help bring a championship to the Orange Nation.”
With Taylor on board, Adrian Autry’s roster is shaping up to be a formidable force in the ACC. The Orange now boast 11 scholarship players for the 2024-25 season, including Taylor, Eddie Lampkin, Jaquan Carlos, and Jyare Davis.
Lucas Taylor
As I reflect on my own experiences as a college athlete, I can appreciate the importance of finding the right fit. For Lucas Taylor, that fit is clearly Syracuse. I’m excited to see how he’ll mesh with the rest of the team and contribute to the Orange’s success.

The addition of Taylor is a significant boost to the Orange’s guard group, which already features JJ Starling, Chance Westry, Kyle Cuffe, and Elijah Moore. With a mix of veteran leadership and fresh talent, Syracuse is poised to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament.

As the offseason continues, I’ll be keeping a close eye on the Orange’s progress. With Lucas Taylor on board, the sky’s the limit for Syracuse basketball.
