Former CU Buffs Guard Shelomi Sanders Transferring to Alabama A&M
Shelomi Sanders, the daughter of CU head football coach Deion Sanders, has announced her decision to transfer to Alabama A&M. This marks a return to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) for Sanders, who began her collegiate career at Jackson State University in the fall of 2022.
Shelomi Sanders
Sanders, a walk-on with the Buffaloes for the past year and a half, entered the transfer portal earlier this month. During her time at CU, she redshirted during the 2022-23 season and appeared in five games this past season, scoring three points in 11 minutes of play.
“I’m excited for this new chapter in my basketball career,” Sanders said in a statement.
Sanders is one of seven CU players to enter the transfer portal, with several already committing to new schools. Center Aaronette Vonleh has committed to Baylor, forward Brianna McLeod to SMU, guard Mikayla Johnson to Pittsburgh, and forward Ruthie Loomis-Goltl to Idaho. Guards Jadyn Atchison and Lele Tanuvasa have yet to announce their transfer destinations.
Women’s Basketball
The transfer portal has been a busy place for the CU Buffs women’s basketball team, with several players seeking new opportunities. As the team looks to rebuild and retool, fans will be eager to see how the roster shapes up for the upcoming season.
