Basketball’s Brightest Star: Cooper Flagg Joins USA Select Team
Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2024, is making waves in the basketball world.
Cooper Flagg, Duke’s top recruit, has been chosen for the USA Basketball Select Team, a prestigious honor that recognizes his exceptional talent and potential. As the first college player on the team since 2013, Flagg is set to train alongside the U.S. Men’s National Team in preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Flagg, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Newport, Maine, has been making headlines since high school. His impressive skills on the court have earned him a spot among the best of the best, including NBA, NBA G-League, and International players. The 17-year-old reclassified from the 2025 class and recently participated in a scrimmage with the rest of the 2024-25 Blue Devils.
“Cooper Flagg is an exceptional talent, and we’re thrilled to see him represent Duke on the USA Select Team,” said an anonymous source close to the team.
Flagg joins an impressive roster that includes Jalen Duren, Langston Galloway, Nigel Hayes-Davis, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Brandon Miller, Trey Murphy, Keegan Murray, Brandin Podziemski, Micah Potter, Payton Pritchard, Jabari Smith Jr., Jalen Suggs, and Amen Thompson. The team is coached by current Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley.
The USA Select Team is a stepping stone to the U.S. Olympic Team, and Flagg is one step closer to achieving his Olympic dreams.
Duke’s Shane Battier, Brandon Ingram, Kyrie Irving, and Mason Plumlee were all previously on the Select Team before joining the U.S. Olympic Team. With Flagg’s selection, Duke continues to produce top-notch talent that represents the university on the national stage.
The USA Basketball Select Team will train with the USA Men’s National Team in Las Vegas from July 6-8. As Flagg takes on this new challenge, basketball fans everywhere will be watching to see what the future holds for this talented young player.
