The Buckeyes are looking to bolster their roster with the addition of Jayhlon Young.
According to reports from The Athletic’s Tobias Bass, Ohio State is one of four finalists for Young’s services, along with Fresno State, Michigan, and a possible return to Memphis. Young initially committed to Vermont earlier this offseason but reopened his recruitment.
The Dallas native has had a journeyman’s career, starting at Grambling State in the 2019-20 season before redshirting. He then played two seasons at Baton Rouge Community College and later transferred to UCF for the 2022-23 campaign. In his lone season with the Knights, Young averaged 4.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 33 games (12 starts).
Last season, Young played for Memphis, where he tallied 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds in just 11 minutes per game.
The Buckeyes’ transfer class already boasts an impressive lineup, including Meechie Johnson (South Carolina), Sean Stewart (Duke), Micah Parrish (San Diego State), and Aaron Bradshaw (Kentucky).
Ohio State will kick off their 2024-25 regular season in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena on Monday, Nov. 4, facing off against the Texas Longhorns as part of the Hall of Fame Series.
