The world of college basketball is abuzz with excitement as Ottawa University welcomes its new head men’s basketball coach, Matt Cross. This seasoned coach brings a wealth of experience and a winning attitude to the Braves, having guided four separate programs to national tournament appearances.
“I want to give a special thanks to Director of Athletics Janet Eaton-Smith for her belief in me to lead the Ottawa University men’s basketball program to national prominence,” said Cross.
Cross’ impressive resume includes stints at Texas College, Talladega College, LSU-Shreveport, and Lamar State College. His most recent position at Texas College saw the Steers break the program record for wins with 22, qualify for the program’s first trip to the NAIA National Tournament, and defeat three NAIA Top 25 teams.

Meanwhile, in the world of high school basketball, Preston Shumpert, a former Syracuse University forward, has been chosen to take over the Liverpool boys basketball program. Shumpert’s impressive playing career and coaching experience make him an excellent fit for the job.

In other coaching news, the Syracuse University women’s basketball team has announced staff updates, including the departure of assistant coach Sue Ludwig and the addition of veteran college coach Ty Evans.
