Navy Basketball Names Lysander Rehnstrom as Captain for 2024-25 Season
The Navy men’s basketball team has announced that Lysander Rehnstrom will serve as captain for the 2024-25 season. This decision was made by head coach Ed DeChellis, who has been impressed by Rehnstrom’s performance on and off the court.
Rehnstrom has been a valuable asset to the team, appearing in 24 games during the 2023-24 season and starting the final seven games of the campaign. During this period, he averaged 7.5 points and 2.1 triples per game, showcasing his skills as a reliable scorer.
“Lysander has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a strong work ethic, making him an ideal candidate for the captain’s role,” said Coach DeChellis.
In addition to his athletic prowess, Rehnstrom has also excelled academically. The operations research major from Reston, Va., has compiled a 3.64 cumulative grade-point average at Navy and has garnered academic honors from the USNA in three semesters. He has also been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in each of his three seasons.
