In a move that is sure to send shockwaves through the college basketball world, Mark Adams has joined Chris Beard’s staff at Ole Miss. This reunion marks a homecoming of sorts for the two coaches, who previously worked together at Texas Tech.
A Familiar Partnership
Beard and Adams were both part of the Red Raiders’ national title appearance in 2019. After Beard left Lubbock for the University of Texas in 2021, Adams took over as coach for the Red Raiders. However, Adams resigned in 2023 and joined the coaching staff at East Carolina as an assistant.
A Staff of Familiar Faces
Beard’s staff at Ole Miss now boasts five of his former assistants who were with him at Tech: Al Pinkins, Bob Donewald Jr., Brian Burg, John Reilly, and now Adams. Additionally, Beard’s support staff includes two others who were with him in their early careers behind the scenes, Elliott De Wit and Parker Edison.
A New Chapter for Ole Miss
Ole Miss finished last year with a 20-12 record, including a 7-11 conference record in the SEC. With Adams on board, the Rebels are looking to build on last season’s momentum and make a deeper push in the conference.
