Yellow Jackets Stun Clemson in Double Overtime Thriller
I’ll never forget the first time I saw the Yellow Jackets take the court. It was a chilly winter evening, and the energy in the stadium was palpable. Little did I know, I was about to witness one of the most incredible comebacks of the season. Georgia Tech’s men’s basketball team was facing off against Clemson, and it seemed like the odds were stacked against them. But as I watched the Yellow Jackets battle back from a nine-point deficit with just 1:33 left to go, I knew I was witnessing something special.
Naithan George: The hero of the game
Naithan George’s three-pointer with 2.3 seconds left in the game was the spark that ignited the Yellow Jackets’ furious comeback. The crowd erupted as the buzzer sounded, sending the game into overtime. But George wasn’t done yet. In the second overtime, he hit a huge step-back jumper to put the Yellow Jackets up by three with 52.9 seconds remaining. The stadium was electric, and I was on the edge of my seat.
Kyle Sturdivant: A force to be reckoned with off the bench
But George wasn’t the only standout player. Kyle Sturdivant had 18 points off the bench, and Miles Kelly added 14 points and six rebounds. The Yellow Jackets’ bench was on fire, and it was clear that they were determined to take down the Tigers.
Miles Kelly: A dominant force on the court
As I watched the game, I couldn’t help but think about the importance of the Alexander-Tharpe Fund. As the fundraising arm of Georgia Tech athletics, it provides scholarship, operations, and facilities support for the Yellow Jackets’ 400-plus student-athletes. It’s because of the support of donors that players like George, Sturdivant, and Kelly are able to thrive on and off the court.
The Yellow Jackets: A team to watch
The Yellow Jackets’ victory over Clemson was more than just a win – it was a testament to the team’s determination and perseverance. As I left the stadium that night, I knew that I had witnessed something truly special. The Yellow Jackets are a team to watch, and I have no doubt that they’ll be making waves in the world of college basketball for years to come.
