IUPUI Jaguars Secure Experienced Guard Briggs McClain for the 2024-2025 Season
The IUPUI men’s basketball program has bolstered its roster for the upcoming season with the addition of graduate transfer Briggs McClain.
A Proven Track Record in Division I Basketball
McClain, a 6-foot-4 guard from Martinsburg, West Virginia, brings a wealth of experience playing at the Division I level. Following a three-year stint at Hartford, McClain transferred to Manhattan for the 2023-2024 season. In his lone season with the Jaspers, McClain appeared in 23 games, averaging 5.7 points in 18.0 minutes per game. He demonstrated his ability to shoot the ball effectively, making 40 percent of his field goal attempts and 78.1 percent of his free throws.
McClain’s impressive skills were on full display during his junior season at Hartford. He led the team in scoring, averaging an impressive 14.4 points per game while shooting 41.9 percent overall and 35.1 percent from three-point range. In that season alone, McClain scored 20-or-more points seven times, including a career-high 24 points in a match against Sacred Heart.
In total, McClain has accumulated 90 games of Division I experience, where he averaged 7.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
IUPUI Head Coach Paul Corsaro Welcomes the Experienced Guard
“We’re super excited to add Briggs to the program. He brings a ton of Division I experience and is a little different than some of the other guards we have on the roster. He’s a bigger point guard that brings a bit of a change of pace offensively, but that can also knock down shots from the perimeter. He’s a guy that’s comfortable with the ball in his hands when the game is on the line. He’s going to give us a steady influence and provide a ton of leadership and direction for some of our younger guys,” said IUPUI head coach Paul Corsaro.
McClain Rounds Out the Jaguars’ 2024-2025 Recruiting Class
McClain becomes the 13th new addition to the Jaguars’ roster for the upcoming season and the 10th transfer to join the program. His experience, skill, and leadership will undoubtedly make valuable contributions to the team.
