USA Basketball Wins Gold at FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup
The USA Basketball Women’s U18 National Team has done it again, taking home the gold medal at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup in Bucaramanga, Colombia. Led by Duke women’s basketball incoming freshman Arianna Roberson, the team dominated the competition, finishing with an unblemished 6-0 record and winning each of their games by an average of 67.8 points.

Roberson was a key contributor off the bench for the United States, averaging 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.0 blocks in 12.3 minutes per game. She pulled down seven-plus rebounds in three games and reached double figures four times, including a standout 14-point, seven-rebound performance against Mexico during group play.
The USA’s Victory: A Testament to Teamwork
The United States’ victory was a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication. With a strong squad and exceptional coaching, the team was able to overcome any obstacles and come out on top. As USA Basketball noted, the team’s 628 total points scored were the most all-time by a USA team at the tournament, which began in 1988.

The Road to the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup
With their gold medal win, the United States, along with Canada and Argentina, has secured a spot at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in the Czech Republic next summer. Brazil also secured a spot, finishing in fourth place.
