Eastern Illinois Women’s Basketball Hires New Assistant Coaches

The Eastern Illinois women’s basketball team has recently made some exciting additions to their coaching staff. Head coach Marqus McGlothan has announced the hiring of Destiny Bragman and Caitlyn Peterson as assistant coaches for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

New Additions to the Coaching Staff

Destiny Bragman comes to Eastern Illinois after coaching at NCAA Division II member New Mexico Highlands. During her time there, she served as an assistant coach and also worked as an assistant athletic director, helping with game day operations and facilities. Prior to her time at New Mexico Highlands, Bragman was the head coach at Trinidad State College in Colorado for four seasons. Under her leadership, the team improved from just four wins in her first season to 14 wins in her last season.


Bragman has also had experience as an assistant coach at Western Colorado University and Trinidad State. As a player, she competed at both Trinidad State and Stephen F. Austin, where she was part of two Southland Conference title-winning teams.

More Coaching Experience Joins the Team

Caitlyn Peterson joins the Eastern Illinois staff after coaching as an assistant at Augsburg University. She was responsible for recruiting and scouting, and her experience will undoubtedly be valuable to the team. Peterson has also coached at St. Cloud State, where she helped the team achieve a 17-10 record and advance to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament.

As a player, Peterson was a five-year member of the St. Cloud State team and made three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. She was also a two-time team captain and won both a NSIC regular season and tournament championship.
