A New Era for Boston College Basketball
As the Eagles prepare for the upcoming season, fans are abuzz with excitement. And for good reason - the team has just landed a major coup in the form of Roger McFarlane, a 6-5, 205-pound grad transfer from Southeastern Louisiana.
McFarlane in action on the court
McFarlane brings a wealth of experience to the table, having averaged nearly a double-double last season with 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. His impressive stats don’t stop there - he also registered 10 double-doubles in points and rebounds, and was recognized as a 2023-24 NABC All-District and Southland Conference honoree.
“Roger is a tough two-way player - a willing defender and consistent scorer,” said head coach Earl Grant. “His experience and leadership will really impact our program.”
McFarlane’s impressive resume doesn’t stop at his on-court achievements. He was also recognized for his success in the classroom, earning a spot on the Southland Conference’s Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

As a prep, McFarlane starred at the University School in Fort Lauderdale, where he teamed up with former BC football great Zay Flowers and 2022 NBA Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes in the backcourt. It’s clear that McFarlane has a wealth of talent and experience to bring to the Eagles.
With McFarlane on board, the Eagles are looking stronger than ever. Will they be able to make a deep run in the tournament this year? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure - with McFarlane leading the charge, the Eagles are in good hands.
