Duke Basketball Lands Top Recruit Khaman Maluach
The Duke Blue Devils have secured a major commitment from five-star center Khaman Maluach, a 7-foot-2, 250-pound powerhouse from the NBA Academy Africa in Senegal. The Blue Devils are building a strong recruiting class
Maluach’s impressive resume includes aiding his native country of South Sudan in qualifying for this summer’s Paris Olympics. He was named MVP of the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa camp last summer, selected playoff and defensive MVP at the BWB Global camp in February, and participated in the Nike Hoop Summit in April.
“I am really excited to welcome Khaman Maluach to Duke,” said Coach Jon Scheyer. “Joining us from South Sudan and NBA Academy Africa, Khaman brings an incredible perspective and unique talents to our program.”
Maluach’s rapid improvement since joining the NBA Academy Africa in 2021 is a testament to his hard work and dedication. With a 7-foot-5 wingspan and 9-foot-8 standing reach, he has the potential to dominate the paint and protect the rim at a high level.
Khaman Maluach, the top-ranked center in the 2024 recruiting class
Maluach joins fellow five-star recruits Cooper Flagg, Isaiah Evans, Kon Knueppel, and Patrick Ngongba II, as well as four-star recruit Darren Harris, in Duke’s top-ranked recruiting class.
“We are anxious to get to work with Khaman after he competes in the Olympics this summer with Luol Deng and the South Sudanese National Team,” said Coach Scheyer.
With Maluach on board, the Blue Devils are building a formidable squad that’s poised to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
