Strengthening the Roster: BYU Basketball Adds Talented Forwards
As the Cougars prepare for the upcoming season, Coach Kevin Young has been busy bolstering the team’s frontcourt with two exciting additions: Khadim Mboup, a 6-foot-9 Senegalese forward, and Max Triplett, a 6-foot-9 walk-on from Snow College.
The Cougars are gearing up for a strong season
Mboup, a top-rated combo forward in the Class of 2025, has decided to reclassify to the Class of 2024 and join the Cougars for the 2024-25 season. The 17-year-old forward is expected to bring a wealth of experience and talent to the team, having honed his skills at NBA Academy Africa.
A Strong Support System
Mboup’s commitment takes up the 13th scholarship on the program’s roster, which already boasts a strong frontcourt lineup featuring returning starter Fousseyni Traore, Utah transfer Keba Keita, Rutgers transfer Mawot Mag, and four-star freshman Brody Kozlowski.
“We are excited to add Max to our group at BYU,” Young said. “He had a great career at Snow and has been very well coached. He adds experience, size, and depth to our frontcourt. On top of being a great student-athlete, Max is a great young man. We are thrilled to welcome him and his wife Autumn to BYU.”
Max Triplett, a 6-foot-9 walk-on from Snow College, brings valuable experience to the team
Triplett, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound walk-on from Huntsville, averaged 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game last year for Snow College, earning all-Scenic West West Athletic Conference second-team honors. He also appeared in 30 games as a freshman at Snow after serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina.
A Winning Combination
With these two talented forwards joining the team, the Cougars are poised to make a strong impact in the upcoming season. Mboup’s impressive skills and Triplett’s experience will undoubtedly bolster the team’s frontcourt depth and provide a winning combination for Coach Young’s squad.
Basketball fans can expect an exciting season ahead
As the Cougars gear up for the new season, fans can expect to see a strong and talented roster take to the court, determined to make their mark in the basketball world.
