Commitment Date Set for Massive Illinois Basketball Recruiting Target
The Illinois basketball program is on the verge of landing one of the highest-rated recruits in program history. Will Riley, a five-star small forward, has risen through the ranks to become the No. 15 player in the country, and the Illini are in the driver’s seat to land him.
Riley’s star began to rise nearly a year ago, when he was rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 39 player in the class of 2025. However, with each update, he continued to climb the rankings, eventually cracking the top 20 nationally. Now, he’s set to make a commitment on June 23, and all signs point to the Illini being the frontrunners.
“I am not going to lie, typing that Riley has a decision gives me goosebumps. It seems that Illinois is not just squarely in the mix for this five-star recruit, but it seems that we are in the lead to land him.” - Source
The Illini’s chances of landing Riley received a boost when Orlando Antigua joined the staff as an assistant coach. Antigua has been working his magic, and after three official visits, Riley is ready to make his decision.
Meanwhile, in other recruiting news, Hudson Greer, a rising star in the class of 2025, has been making waves with his impressive playmaking and sharpshooting abilities. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Texas native has been in contact with the Duke basketball staff, including head coach Jon Scheyer, and has even posed for a photo with Cooper Flagg, a current Duke player.
In other news, Youngstown State University’s women’s basketball and men’s swimming and diving teams have earned the Horizon League Raise Your Sights award for the 2023-24 academic year. The award recognizes the teams with the highest combined GPA.
The women’s basketball team posted a combined GPA of 3.74, while the men’s swimming and diving team registered a 3.62. The tennis team owns a 3.41 GPA, and the women’s golf squad had an impressive 3.75 GPA.
