College Hoops Star Arrested in NYC with Loaded Gun
A college basketball player was arrested in New York City over the weekend after police found a loaded gun in a car he was in, sources said. Jeremiah Davenport, a 25-year-old graduate senior guard for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, was taken into custody early Saturday morning in Washington Heights.

According to authorities, police saw a black BMW X5 with tinted windows double parked at the northwest corner of Nagel Avenue and West 204th Street. When they approached the vehicle, they noticed marijuana smoke coming from inside. Davenport, who was in the car with another man, 24, couldn’t produce any identification when asked by police.

Police then saw a firearm in plain sight behind the passenger seat, leading to Davenport’s arrest. He was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of an ammo feed device, and tinted windows.

Davenport appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court Saturday, sporting a dark orange sweater with the phrase “selfish ways” written on it. His lawyer argued that there were serious search issues with the case, but Davenport was released on his own recognizance.
This isn’t Davenport’s first run-in with the law. In September, he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge in connection to a speeding ticket after turning himself into Fayetteville police, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
NBA Draft
Davenport was in town for the NBA Draft, but his weekend took an unexpected turn. The Razorbacks guard declined to comment as he left court.
The incident serves as a reminder that even athletes can find themselves in trouble with the law. As the NBA Draft approaches, Davenport’s future in the league remains uncertain.
