BYU Basketball Staff Gets a Boost with New Hire
As the BYU Cougars men’s basketball team looks to make a name for themselves in the NCAA, their new head coach Kevin Young is making some savvy moves to ensure their success. The latest addition to the team’s staff is none other than former NBA G League head coach Will Voigt, who brings with him over 20 years of coaching experience.
New blood in Provo
Voigt’s impressive resume boasts stints as the head coach of the Austin Spurs in the G League, as well as coaching gigs in Norway, China, Germany, and Egypt. His most notable achievement was leading Nigeria to the 2015 AfroBasket title, which earned them a spot in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
“Will is someone I’ve had great respect for,” Young said in a statement. “He is a creative thinker, very organized and has an unmatched work ethic. Will has years of head coaching experience in the NBA G-League, as well as vast experience coaching all over the world, including in the Rio Olympics. He’s not afraid to push the envelope creatively, especially on the defensive end of the floor. Will is a high-level coach who I will lean on heavily.”
This new hire is a clear indication of Young’s commitment to turning BYU into an NBA developmental pipeline. With Voigt on board, the Cougars are poised to make some serious noise in the NCAA.

New chapter for Robinson
