BYU Basketball: Filling the Roster Under Coach Kevin Young
The BYU basketball program has been busy since Coach Kevin Young took the reins. With only four scholarship players secured for next season initially, the team has now filled 11 spots, leaving two remaining.
Returning Players
Six scholarship players from last season will return to the roster, including Trey Stewart, Richie Saunders, Trevin Knell, Dawson Baker, Dallin Hall, and Fousseyni Traore. The return of Dallin Hall and Richie Saunders, who had entered the transfer portal, is a significant boost for the team.
New Additions
Five new scholarship players will join the roster, including:
- Keba Keita, a transfer from Utah
- Brody Kozlowski, a 2024 signee
- Elijah Crawford, a 2024 signee
- Egor Demin, a 2024 commit
- Mawot Mag, a transfer from Rutgers
Keba Keita, a transfer from Utah, could slide into the starting lineup immediately. Brody Kozlowski, a corner canyon signee, has the potential to play the stretch four position. Mawot Mag, with one year of eligibility remaining, will provide a significant defensive boost. Egor Demin, a projected 2025 lottery pick, is too talented not to be in the rotation as a true freshman. Elijah Crawford has the potential to be the point guard of the future for BYU.

Filling the Remaining Spots
With 11 scholarships filled, BYU has two remaining spots to fill. One of their top targets is 2024 prospect Kanon Catchings, who has NBA potential and will visit BYU after being released from his NLI with Purdue.
