Women’s Basketball Scores Big with Addition of Judit Oliva Fernandez
I’ve been following the Long Beach State women’s basketball team for years, and I have to say, their latest recruit has me more excited than ever. Judit Oliva Fernandez, a talented young player from Spain, is joining the team for the 2024-25 season, and I think she’s going to be a game-changer.
Fernandez comes to Long Beach State after redshirting at the University of South Florida, where she spent her first year in the United States getting accustomed to the college game. But make no mistake, this 6-2 forward is no rookie. She’s already had a successful club career with Barca in Spain, and has competed at the youth national level with Spain in 3x3 competitions.
Women’s basketball is a growing sport globally
I’ve always been impressed by the skill and athleticism of women’s basketball players, and Fernandez is no exception. Her experience playing 3x3 at the international level will serve her well in the half-court offense, and her defensive skills will be a valuable asset to the team.
“We are pleased to welcome Judit to the Beach,” said head coach Amy Wright in a statement. “Judit has a unique skill set that will flow seamlessly into what we do offensively. Her background in international 3 on 3 competitions fits well into our half-court offense and she is a player that can be disruptive on the defensive end.”

Fernandez joins an impressive incoming recruiting class that includes JaQuoia Brown, Rachel Loobie, Tairat Samuel, and Haley Wright. I’m excited to see how these young players will come together to form a strong team.
As a fan of women’s basketball, I’m always on the lookout for talented young players who are going to make a big impact on the sport. Judit Oliva Fernandez is definitely one to watch, and I’m looking forward to seeing her in action on the court.

The addition of Judit Oliva Fernandez is a big win for Long Beach State, and I think it’s going to be a great season for the team. With their talented new recruits and experienced coaching staff, I’m predicting big things for the Beach.
