Bayern Basketball Starts Anew with Gordon Herbert at the Helm
The wait is over for FC Bayern Basketball fans as the team has begun its preparation for the new season under the guidance of new head coach Gordon Herbert. The 65-year-old Canadian coach, who led the German national team to a World Cup title in 2023, has taken over the reins from successful coach Pablo Laso.
Gordon Herbert, the new head coach of FC Bayern Basketball
The team’s preparation started on Sunday, with 12 players, including some from the second team, reporting for training at the BMW Park. However, fans in Munich will have to wait a bit longer to see their stars in action as the team’s test matches against Bamberg, Strasbourg, and Wurzburg will be played without spectators.
Herbert’s tenure with the German national team was marked by success, including a World Cup title in 2023. However, the team’s Olympic campaign in Paris ended in disappointment, with a fourth-place finish. Herbert will be looking to bring his winning formula to Bayern and lead the team to success in the upcoming season.
The team’s test matches will be followed by two test tournaments in Ljubljana and Cyprus. These matches will provide Herbert with an opportunity to assess his team’s strengths and weaknesses and make any necessary adjustments before the start of the season.
The FC Bayern Basketball team in action
As a basketball fan, I am excited to see how Herbert’s tenure with Bayern will play out. With his experience and success with the German national team, I believe he has the potential to lead Bayern to great heights.
However, the road to success will not be easy. The team will face stiff competition from other top teams in the league, and Herbert will need to make sure his team is well-prepared and motivated to take on the challenge.

One thing is certain, though - with Herbert at the helm, Bayern Basketball is in good hands. I am looking forward to seeing how the team performs in the upcoming season and wish them all the best.
