Bayern Basketball Scoops Up World Champion Johannes Voigtmann

The FC Bayern Basketball team has just landed a major talent in Johannes Voigtmann, a 31-year-old basketball world champion. This marks Voigtmann’s return to the Bundesliga after many years abroad.

A World-Class Player Joins the Ranks

Voigtmann, who last played for Olimpia Mailand in Italy, has signed a contract with FC Bayern until 2027. This move also reunites him with Bayern’s new coach, Gordon Herbert, under whom Voigtmann won the basketball world championship in 2023 with the German national team.

“We’re getting a player of international class with Jo Voigtmann,” said Marko Pesic, Bayern’s business director. “He’s also a leader.”

A Long-Awaited Return to the Bundesliga

Voigtmann, a native of Thuringia, Germany, is excited to return to his home country and the Bundesliga. He last played in the Bundesliga in 2016 for the Frankfurt Skyliners.

“I’m very happy to be in Munich and to return to Germany and the Bundesliga after many years abroad,” said Voigtmann.
