A New Chapter for Aleah Goodman: Leaving Oregon State for Washington

Aleah Goodman, the former Beavers all-conference guard, is trading in her Oregon State coaching gear for a similar position at Washington. Goodman, who returned to OSU last spring to become an assistant coach, is the second assistant to leave the program this offseason.

Goodman joins a long list of Oregon State alumnae to pursue coaching careers

Goodman’s decision to leave comes after assistant head coach Jonas Chatterton departed for Oklahoma in May. This latest departure will see Goodman join the University of Washington staff, led by Tina Langley, who has coached the Huskies for the past three years.

“The move to the Big Ten next basketball season brings new challenges and opportunities for the Huskies”.

Washington has an opening following Katie Faulkner’s departure to become head coach at Pepperdine in April. Goodman is expected to bring her expertise as a former player and coach to the UW staff.

The Huskies will face stiff competition in the Big Ten next season

Oregon State, meanwhile, is bracing for a new look in 2024-25. The Beavers, coming off a remarkable run to the Elite Eight in March, will feature a retooled roster after losing eight players to the transfer portal. The program will also enter a new chapter competing in the West Coast Conference next season.

“Goodman played a pivotal role in shaping the Beavers’ successful season”

Goodman’s basketball journey has seen her transition seamlessly from player to coach. She was a third-round pick in the 2021 WNBA draft but opted for a career on the bench. Before joining Oregon State’s coaching staff, Goodman spent two years at Duke as its director of recruiting and player development.

With Goodman’s departure, Oregon State is left with only one assistant coach, Deven Hunter, pending the hire of two new assistants.
