A New Era for BYU Basketball
The next few days will be crucial for Kevin Young’s program, according to new assistant coach Chris Burgess. With four scholarships to fill, Burgess is confident that they will be able to secure two to three new recruits within the next 72 hours.
The Marriott Center in Provo, Utah
Burgess, who previously worked under Mark Pope at BYU between 2019-22, returned to Provo after a stint at Utah. He believes that the momentum is building around BYU basketball and athletics.
The Return of Chris Burgess
Burgess credits his growth as a coach to his time at Utah, where he worked under Craig Smith. He feels more prepared now for a head coaching job than he has ever been. However, a phone call with Young changed his plans, and he decided to return to BYU.
Egor Demin Commits to BYU
ESPN’s senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Real Madrid’s Egor Demin has committed to play at BYU. The 6-9 Russian guard is a projected lottery pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

Keba Keita and Fouss
Burgess is excited about the addition of Keba Keita from the transfer portal. Keita is a lob threat every time down the court and loves contact. Burgess believes that BYU fans will love him.
NCAA vs. House
Burgess played at the highest level of college basketball, reaching the Elite Eight in 1998 and the national championship game in 1999 at Duke. He believes that the college game needs to adapt to the changing landscape, including the House vs. NCAA settlement.
Remembering Bill Walton
Burgess grew up playing basketball with and against Luke, Nate, and Chris Walton, sons of NBA and longtime broadcaster Bill Walton, who recently passed away. Burgess has fond memories of working with Walton prior to a game at UCLA.
